Learning Through Purposeful Play
We work with the individual child’s interests; however, skilful staff ensure those interests are delivered with a purpose in mind and practitioners can move your child to their next step in learning in that moment using the well thought out environment.
For your child to develop physical, communication and social skills, to learn about the world and their place in it, we aim to give them as many diverse experiences as we can. While they’re encouraged to participate, express and extend themselves, they’ll develop at their own pace, and every tiny achievement is celebrated.
Each age-specific room supports learning and development at every stage. There are plenty of opportunities for children to participate in group activities, which builds social interaction and self-confidence, and as an individual, encouraging independence and autonomy.
All of the above is encapsulated in our very own curriculum which the staff and children adore.
Children should be allowed to explore, develop, have fun, get messy, play outside, sleep it off, splash, build, sing, be curious, investigate, dance, paint and laugh. At Shine a Light Day Nursery our exceptional team is passionate about your child experiencing ALL of these things!
While the children are settled and happy at nursery doing all fun things, you can leave with a big smile from ear to ear as you go about your day, feeling confident, reassured and relaxed about trusting your child to such competent and caring hands. Your little treasure is our little treasure too.
We also regularly note their progress in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and share this with you. We operate within the government’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a framework which recognises the holistic nature of development and learning at this age, with an emphasis on children learning through interaction with people and exploring the world around them.
The EYFS identifies the individuality, efforts and achievements of children and recognises that learning and development take place during all activities. Our mums and dads can take part in our free EYFS parents course which helps explain how you can support your child’s learning and development at home. We also have well thought transition arrangements between rooms and to school.
