Under 3's Nursery Oldham - Caterpillars, Ladybirds & Butterflies

From baby to toddler your child will grow and develop in their own good time.

We make sure they are continually engaged with our highly trained and knowledgeable team who introduce resources and activities that encourage exploration and learning for their stage of development.

When we feel your child is ready, we’ll talk to you about progressing to the next room, where life just keeps getting more interesting, involving, intriguing and exciting.

Baby Room – Caterpillars (6 weeks to around 15 months)

At this very early stage, babies are taking everything in; observing everything around them and learning how to control their bodies, responding to everything and communicating while being reassured by their Shine A Light family. The Baby Room team focuses on tactile activities that encourage development and they make every effort to create a ‘home-from-home’ environment that provides a gentle transition from home to nursery life and have lots of cuddles.

Active Babies – Ladybirds (around 10–26 months)

As their mobility, dexterity and language improves, children begin exploring their environment with greater curiosity and excitement (otherwise known as the ‘into everything’ phase!). In the Ladybird Room, these skills can flourish. With the help of purpose-built furniture and play resources, the team encourages children to stretch themselves both physically and imaginatively.

Toddler Room – Butterflies (around 20–40 months)

With growing independence, and with their own unique personality really coming through, children are ready to start developing social, self-help and life skills. In the Toddler Room, we support these skills with activities like circle time, dressing skills, toilet training and shared mealtimes where children are encouraged to feed themselves. The focus is on purposeful play that sets the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
